It’s not working!

Ever been in a situation where you are doing everything the doctor ordered and yet, your body is not healing?

I had dropped a hitch on my foot and the broken toe healed quickly, but I kept experiencing pain.  I tried different shoes, different arch supports, and stretching exercises, as well as hot and cold packs.  The pain would still bring me to tears during the night.  To get back to sleep, I would do self Reiki until it subsided.  Finally I went in to see an orthopedic specialist.  X-rays didn’t show the problem, so the doctor suggested the foot be immobilized in a boot for a month.  At the end of the month, he scratched his head and suggested an MRI for a more detailed look.  The MRI showed a fracture in a small bone.  More time in the boot.

I turned my care completely over to the medical profession.   After three more months in the boot, my foot was still very painful.   Now my knees were also giving me problems because of the way I was forced to walk to keep my foot immobilized.  In the process of working around the limitations of the boot, I tore the meniscus in my knee.  Arghh!

The questions that came to me repeatedly were things like: “What am I missing?” and “What am I supposed to learn from this?”  During a meditation, I very clearly received a message that told me to practice what I preach.  I had to laugh when I realized how astute that advice was!

How many clients had I told that Reiki reduces the stress in the body.  We get better results from the doctor, surgeon, dentist, physical therapist, etc. when we move from a state of stress to one of resting, digesting, and repairing.  Relaxation is the body’s natural beginning of healing!

I took this to heart and returned to a daily Reiki practice in conjunction with working with my doctor, physical therapist and massage therapist.  My foot quit hurting and the meniscus healed well.

Note to self!  When I need to reduce stress the most is when I avoid taking the steps needed to do that.  And, the more excuses I have to avoid taking action to reduce stress, the more I need the help!
