I heard the hawk calling as I was walking. Turning around, I saw two hawks sitting together at the top of a tall cottonwood tree across the street.
As I tried to record the hawk, I became aware of surrounding sounds – other birds and also cars driving by. I hadn’t noticed either as I focused on the hawk calls.
What do you hear right now? Birds, insects, cars, typing, wind, laughter, people talking, music, thunder, hail, construction sounds…? What stands out? What gets filtered or drowned out unless you really listen?
Do you hear the grass growing? Do you hear your skin absorbing rays of sunlight? Do you hear the burst of flavor from a sip of lemonade? Do you hear the colors of the rainbow?
Listen and see what you hear…
